Zelenskiy hails Ukraine’s Eurovision win and plans to ‘one day’ host final in Mariupol
Volodymyr Zelenskiy has hailed Ukraine’s win in the Eurovision song contest, saying that his war-ravaged country would do its best to host next year’s final in the beleaguered port city of Mariupol.
After Kalush Orchestra won Saturday night’s contest in a show of popular support for the nation that went beyond music, the Ukrainian president reacted with a Telgram post saying: “Our courage impresses the world, our music conquers Europe! Next year Ukraine will host Eurovision!
“We will do our best to one day host the participants and guests of Eurovision in Ukrainian Mariupol. Free, peaceful, rebuilt! I am sure our victorious chord in the battle with the enemy is not far off.”
