Yellowstone sets September and year-to-date attendance records

(CNN) — Yellowstone National Park has done it again. That number is 872,695 recreation visits, a National Park Service news release on Tuesday said. It's a 4% increase from September 2020. Perhaps even more notable is the record number of visitors year-to-date. So far in 2021, Yellowstone has seen 4,463,599 recreation visits, up 32% from the same period in 2020. It's as if the entire state of Oregon visited Yellowstone and invited along more than 200,000 friends. It's the first time the park has exceeded the 4-million-visitor mark this early in the year, even before the pandemic, NPS said.
