Washington Football Team is making a mess of Sean Taylor's jersey retirement
While they continue to deal with the fallout from an NFL investigation into workplace culture, the Washington Football Team announced they will retire late safety Sean Taylor’s No. 21 jersey Sunday.
Taylor, a premier defender in the league, died in November 2007 after being shot during a robbery attempt at his Florida home. He was 24.
The WFT will play host to the Chiefs in Week 6, where Taylor’s family will join the team on-field for a pregame ceremony before his jersey retirement. Sunday is also Alumni Homecoming for the team, which will honor nearly 100 members of the franchise at FedExField.
“There will never be another 21,” the WFT team tweeted Thursday.
