TV ratings: Dramatic Home and Away cliffhanger blows The Bachelorette away in prime-time season finale
In the battle between prime-time TV season finales, Home and Away’s end of year cliffhanger left The Bachelorette hanging on for dear life.
Seven’s soap continued its strong performances in the TV ratings, with its 90 minute mega-episode on Thursday night - broken into three segments - being the top entertainment program of the night.
Media Week reported that viewership of the long-running soap increased from 24 per cent to 28 per cent.
Across the country, the finale brought in 493,000 viewers for the first hour and 449,000 for the last 30 minutes to witness the nail-biting ending that saw Chloe Anderson’s father Matthew Montgomery struck to the ground - his fate won’t be revealed until the program returns from its summer hiatus next year - and a proposal.
