As of this week, the number of passengers screened at the airport security checkpoint is "more than 88% of July 2019 levels," according to an airport news release. In July 2019, the airport reached an all-time high of 13.3 million travelers. "People are shaking off their cabin fever and ready to travel again after more than 15 months of restrictions," said Cindy Nichols, Sacramento County Department of Airports director. July is typically the busiest travel month for airports. While full data is still a week away for July, if the trend holds, then this will be the busiest July since 2017 in Sacramento, according to data on the airport's website.
