Opinion | Here's why zero-emission vehicle mandates don't work
Canada’s plan to regulate zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) sales should be advertised as “batteries not included.”
Without a serious national plan on consumer purchase incentives, charging infrastructure, clean electricity generation, grid resilience and education, a national ZEV sales mandate won’t get us very far at all.
The champions of ZEV sales mandates continue to advance the same backward-looking arguments on why regulation is necessary. Here’s why they are wrong:
