Is Murdoch University changing its culture? An executive and governance shakeup is afoot
A sense of change in the Fremantle Doctor is blowing through Murdoch University’s Bush Court as most of the former executive under ex-vice chancellor Eeva Leinonen are swept away, with improved academic oversight taking shape.
The university is on a global hunt for its next vice chancellor, but it will also be seeking to replace chief financial officer Darren McKee who left this week in the wake of interim-VC and former Provost Romy Lawson leaving last month.
Sitting as interim vice chancellor is retired professor and former vice chancellor of Deakin University, Jane den Hollander, who helmed a similar position at the University of Western Australia until Professor Amit Chakma took over as vice chancellor in July 2020.
