Heated talk about race, sexuality is seeping into CNY school board elections

When Mary Kay Vatalaro learned that career day at her daughter’s Oneida County middle school included a presentation from a local LGBQT group, she says she was upset parents had no prior notification. “Parents should have been told ahead of time,” said Vatalaro, who’s now running for a seat on the Clinton school board. “They were using the word sex all the time,” she said, repeating what her daughter told her about the presentation.
