Evacuation order believed to be imminent for Spences Bridge; residents preparing to leave - Kamloops News

Residents living in Spences Bridge have been told to flee the community due to a nearby wildfire.
The deadly Lytton Creek fire has been moving to the north and east for a number of days, and the Thompson-Nicola Regional District on Thursday afternoon ordered Spences Bridge and the surrounding area evacuated.

Evacuations are expected to be ordered Thursday in Spences Bridge as the deadly Lytton Creek wildfire continues to march north.
Thompson-Nicola Regional District officials are expected to order the evacuation of the community in the coming hours.
TNRD director Steven Rice, who lives in and represents the Spences Bridge region, said he was preparing to leave when contacted late Thursday morning by Castanet.
“We’re getting ready,” he said.
“We’re getting things watered down. We’re running our irrigation line around our house.”
