'We are shocked and terribly sad.' Brighton student killed in crash while on family vacation
A Brighton teen has died in a motorcycle crash while on vacation with his family in Ecuador.
Joshua Ulloa, described as an "all-around wonderful young man," was a sophomore at Brighton High School, said Kevin McGowan, superintendent of the Brighton Central School District. McGowan shared the news of Ulloa's death on Monday night in a letter posted on the district's website and social media accounts.
Further details of the crash were not available.
Ulloa, an avid soccer player and member of Brighton High School's varsity soccer team, was well-loved by Brighton teachers and staff and anyone who came into contact with him, McGowan wrote in the letter.
"He was full of life, energy and kindness," said Brighton High School Principal Thomas Hall. "We are shocked and terribly sad.”
As his soccer coach Adam Hiller said that Ulloa "had a love for his teammates and played with fire and tenacity.”
Counselors will be on hand at the high school on Tuesday and throughout the week.
