The brutal wake up call that spurred ‘untouchable’ Simmons to another All-Star honour
Ben Simmons is now a three-time All-Star and his path to that honour can be traced back to a point when the 24-year old’s status at Philadelphia looked at its shakiest.
Simmons was reportedly “ecstatic” when he found out he would not be heading to the Brooklyn Nets after rumours swirled that he had been put on the trade block.
The Athletic’s Shams Charania confirmed just as much and as CBS Sports’ Michael Kaskey-Blomain wrote at the time, suddenly Simmons found out “he’s not untouchable.”

The result could have gone one of the two ways and fortunately for Sixers fans, it has ended in the best outcome.
Simmons embraced the wake-up call to adopt a more aggressive mindset attacking the rim, putting a career-high 42 points on the Utah Jazz and only continuing to build on that stellar performance without Joel Embiid.
