Kena: Bridge of Spirits Blends God of War, Horizon, and Pikmin With Pixar-Level Animation - IGN
Kena: Bridge of Spirits made a hell of a first impression at the PS5 reveal showcase last year, and every trailer since then has reaffirmed that Ember Lab’s first game looks to offer a beautiful world with moving, evocative art and imagery. That’s no surprise given the studio’s animation pedigree, but after nearly an hour and a half playing an early section of Kena, I’m just as intrigued by its fascinating melting pot of gameplay ideas. Weaving together bits of metroidvanias, recent PlayStation hits like God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn, and even a surprising dash of Pikmin, Kena bridges the gap between a host of different ideas for an exciting, intriguing blend of combat and exploration.
My introduction to Kena’s world, played remotely streaming on PC, was situated in one of her earlier adventures outward from the central town, which Ember Lab co-founders Mike and Josh Grier explained will act as a place players can revisit, use new abilities and items to unlock new challenges, and generally learn more about this world.
