Fire, blast in Bharuch factory leaves 2 dead

A loud bang just before 2 am on Tuesday woke up residents in Jhaghadia town ofat a distance of several kilometres as a massive fi re raged in the premises of a factory at the localTheand subsequent blast at Unit 5 of UPL Limited led to 26 injured workers, some of who were also moved to hospitals inand, said government officials. By evening, of the seven workers still unaccounted for and presumed to be inside the burning wreckage, Police Inspector P H Vasava of Jhaghadia police station informed that two persons had been pulled out dead, while five others were still missing and attempts were underway to find them.Later in the day, the Labour and Employment department issued a closure notice to UPL Ltd (United Phosphorus Ltd) after the incident. A statement from the department said that the fire had erupted after a blast in the factory in the early hours of Tuesday.
