Ex-striker makes Everton claim as Richarlison interest hots up
Everton should have avoided appointing Carlo Ancelotti as manager, according to Frank McAvennie.
The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists Ancelotti was always going to struggle with Everton’s lack of world-class talent.
On 1st June, Everton confirmed Ancelotti had left the club to re-join Real Madrid.
This left many Toffees fans angry after Ancelotti’s previous comments about wanting to be part of the Everton “project”.
On 27th December, Ancelotti spoke to The Guardian and admitted “The project is very ambitious” before going on to say “I want to stay”.
This site revealed on 3rd June the Italian boss is keen to try and lure Richarlison to the Bernabeu.
It is understood Ancelotti believes the Brazilian to be the only player capable of playing for Los Blancos.
McAvennie insists this is why Ancelotti struggled with Everton.
“I think it was wrong to go for Ancelotti in the first place,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Everything he’s ever done, it’s been at big clubs with big money to spend. He’s been dealing with big players.
