The Duke of Edinburgh was admitted to hospital last week, as what Buckingham Palace called a "precautionary measure". He became unwell at Windsor Castle, and was transported to King Edward VII's hospital in London for "observation". But he has stayed there for nearly a week, and the Palace has confirmed he will remain there for a while longer.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said he was "responding well" to treatment but needed more time at the hospital.
