Three new clubs join NRLW competition as New Zealand Warriors withdraw

Three new clubs have announced their addition to NRLW for 2021, as the New Zealand Warriors withdraw after being an inaugural member for the first three years of the competition. Parramatta, Newcastle and Gold Coast will all come into the women's competition this year, taking the league to six teams. Warriors CEO Cameron George admitted the decision was a tough one, but it was too complicated due to the ongoing effects of the pandemic. “As a club that prides itself in supporting the women’s game, this has been an exceptionally difficult decision to make,” he said. “The key factor is the impact the Covid-19 pandemic is continuing to have on our club across the board. We’re extremely cautious of the border situation and will continue to be so.
