COVID clinics set to close as demand for PCR testing wanes and case numbers fall
Four of WA’s biggest COVID-19 testing clinics are set to shut up shop within weeks, WA Health has revealed.
Public clinics at Fiona Stanley Hospital, Armadale Health Service, St John of God Midland Public Hospital and Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital are are all scheduled to close on July 15.
Health authorities say the decision to shutter the clinics was made due to falling demand for PCR testing and the number COVID-19 cases in the community continuing to drop.
“The closures will allow nurses and other staff working at these clinics to return to their usual roles,” a statement on the Healthy WA Facebook page read.
It said where a public COVID-19 clinic has closed, free PCR testing would still be available from another testing facility in the area.
