Aston Villa fans brutally mock Arsenal after Emile Smith Rowe deal confirmed
Emile Smith Rowe has put an end to speculation over his future by signing a new long-term contract with Arsenal.
Aston Villa have been admirers of the playmaker this summer and had two bids rejected by the Gunners, who remained adamant throughout that he was not for sale.
Villa have already strengthened with the signings of Emiliano Buendia - who was an Arsenal target - and Ashley Young but wanted Smith Rowe to add further quality to Dean Smith’s squad.
The club had an opening bid of £25million rejected and returned with a second offer of £30m but that was also turned down by Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta’s side began talks over a new contract for Smith Rowe earlier this summer and it would have taken a huge fee to prise him away from the Emirates.
The youngster had to wait until Boxing Day to make his first Premier League appearance last season but went onto become a star performer and Arsenal believe he will become a key player for years to come.
