AdventHealth limits visitors, enacts other restrictions amid fastest increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations of pandemic
AdventHealth is shifting from green to yellow status. All seven Central Florida hospital locations will add additional visitor restrictions, limit elective inpatient cases, and require masks hospital-wide, the system announced Thursday on a Facebook livestream. AdventHealth is deliberating whether to require its team members to get vaccinated, but it has not made a decision, nor does it have a timeline on when that decision will be available.
The status change comes after the number of hospitalized COVID-19 patients at AdventHealth hospitals more than doubled in the last two weeks, from 310 on July 8 to 720 on Thursday, said Dr. Neil Finkler, chief clinical officer for AdventHealth’s Central Florida division.
“The rate of [the] rise is somewhat concerning. We are now seeing about the fastest rate of increase that we have seen during the course of this entire pandemic,” Finkler said.
